The Rutherford House Provincial Historic Site was the home of the first Premier of Alberta, Alexander Cameron Rutherford. Today, this restored and furnished Edwardian-era home maintains the Rutherford tradition of hospitality and offers visitors a glimpse into the past with costumed interpreters, guided tours and special events.

Pass through the wood cased doorframe of Alexander Cameron Rutherford’s family home and imagine going back to the early 1900’s, time of Alberta’s first premier. Say “yes” when our costumed storyteller invites you on a tour of this living museum. Close your eyes, then listen carefully for creeks and squeaks as this elegant mansion tells its hundred-year-old story. Smell the fire burning and something cooking on the wood-burning stove as you draw closer to the historic kitchen. Feel the heat from the stove even before you set foot in the small domestic working space of Mrs. Rutherford.
