The Canadian Birkebeiner

The Canadian Birkebeiner is Canada’s largest classic cross-country ski event, and it's back again to test your skills and stamina! Take on the classic 55km track that recreates the legend of the original Birkebeiner skiers. Whether you're a black diamond adventurer or a complete beginner, there's a Birkie event for you. It's Nordic fun for the whole family!


February 9-24

Sweet Treats & Latte Festival

Warm up with some coffee at the Sweet Treats & Latte Festival, a celebration of Old Strathcona’s amazing coffee scene. Help spread the love to all of the amazing coffee shops and bakeries around Whyte Avenue by trying a feature hot drink or treat at one of the participating businesses. Don't forget to fill out your coffee card for a chance to win some prizes!

Winefest

Indulge among hundreds of wines in all styles under one roof at Winefest! One ticket includes an all-inclusive sampling of wines, hors d’oeuvres, and a take-home wine glass.  Prepare your palate and enjoy a variety of red, white, port, sparkling, and dessert wines from the world’s most celebrated wine regions, and pair them with a selection of sweet and savoury bites.

  • Join Ballet Edmonton as they present Avancer at the Triffo Theatre! (Feb 9-10)
  • Embark on an odyssey with "Rubaboo," a spellbinding experience inspired by the Michif term for "leftovers stew" or "big pot." at the Citadel Theatre. (Feb 10 - March 3)
  • City and Colour is bringing Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats to Rogers Place! (Feb 10)

The Great Outdoors

If you haven't gone barreling down a hill on a snow tube, have you really experienced winter? There are many great hills in the city to get your tube on, from Edmonton Ski Club, to Rabbit Hill Snow Resort and Sunridge Ski Area. These hills even have conveyer belts so you won't have to walk all the way back to the top. There's snow better way to spend a winter afternoon!
