#SnapYEG Photo Challenge

Explore Edmonton’s #SnapYEG photo challenge is your chance to showcase the beauty, energy, and hidden gems of our city! Every two weeks, we’ll drop a fresh theme on Instagram, inviting photographers and storytellers to capture Edmonton’s sights and sounds. Our judges will select two standout photos bi-weekly, and at the end of the month, the top four photos will go head-to-head in a public vote. The winner takes home an Edmonton prize pack, filled with incredible experiences in the Edmonton region, valued at $500.00.

The challenge runs from April 1st – December 31st 2025. One winner will be selected for each monthly contest, with up to a total of 9 prize packages available. The winner will be contacted on the draw date notifying them of their win and details on how to collect their prize. You must be in Edmonton to claim your prize. Please review the rules and regulations for more details.

Eligibility

• The 9 contests in this challenge are open to legal residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, who are at least [18] years old at the time of entry and currently reside in Canada. Participants must meet all eligibility requirements outlined in the rules and regulations. Entries from individuals outside the eligible regions will be disqualified.
• Participants must have government-issued ID and are able to claim their prize in person in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
• Employees of Explore Edmonton Corporation and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.

For each prize, the approximate total value is $500 CAD. There are 9 prizes in total.

How to Enter

1. Participants must submit their entries by posting their original photographs on Instagram, using the designated contest hashtags, #SnapYEG and #ExploreEdmonton.
2. Entries must align with the announced theme and comply with the social media platform’s Terms of Use, Policies, and Guidelines.
3. Entries must be posted within the contest period. Late submissions will not be considered.
4. Entries must remain free of any added logos, text, graphics, icons, or AI-generated content. Any submission found to contain such modifications will be disqualified.
5. Your account must be set to public for your photo to be considered as an entry.

Timeline:

There will be (9) contests between April 1st, 2025 to December 31st,
2025. Each contest will be broken into (2) themes. Each theme
will determine (2) Semi-Finalist positions but only ONE winner will be awarded a prize per contest.

Judging & Voting Process

• A panel of judges will review all eligible submissions based on creativity, originality, adherence to theme, and overall visual appeal.
• The top two photos (per theme) selected by our judges will be announced on Explore Edmonton’s social channel.
• The top four photos at the end of the month will be shared on Explore Edmonton’s social channel for public voting through a poll style vote in a carousel format.
• The photo with the most votes on the poll, within the voting period, will be declared the winner.
• In the event of a tie, the voting period will be extended by 24 hours for the images who have equal votes at the time the voting period ends.
• Any use of automated bots, AI generated images, fake accounts, or vote manipulation will result in disqualification.
• Photos of the top 4 submissions, including the winner, will be posted on Explore Edmonton.com, following the announcement of the winner.

Prize Details

• The winner will receive a customizable prize package valued at up to $500. Prize selections are subject to availability, seasonality, and the discretion of Explore Edmonton. All prize items must be chosen within [15] days of being notified as the winner, and all experiences, or products must be used by [December 31, 2025]. Explore Edmonton reserves the right to refuse any prize request and will have final approval on all items included in the package.
• The prize must be claimed in person at Explore Edmonton’s HQ.
• The prize pack must include partners listed on ExploreEdmoton.com
• The prize package will be curated on a case-by-case basis in collaboration with the winner.

The prize must be accepted as awarded and may not be transferred or exchanged absent the consent of the Contest sponsors, which consent may be withheld in their absolute discretion. The Contest prize may not be exactly as advertised. The Contest sponsors reserve the right, in their absolute discretion, to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event of the unavailability, for whatever the reason, of the advertised prize in whole or in part.

Winner Notification & Claiming the Prize

The winner will be notified via direct message on the platform where they entered. If the winner does not respond within [72 hours], an alternate winner may be selected. The winner must arrange to claim their prize in person at the offices of Explore Edmonton.

By entering, participants grant Explore Edmonton Corporation the right to use their submitted photos for promotional purposes (with credit given).
