We are searching for a dedicated and customer service focused Security Guard professional to join our team at the Edmonton EXPO Centre (EXPO). This role serves as a significant resource for our entire building, providing a full range of responsibilities surrounding EXPO events and ensuring the safety and security of staff, clients, contractors and members of the public.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Providing a safe and welcoming environment for staff, guests, and clients.
Actively monitoring and responding to alarms, crowd dynamics, individual behaviour and safety issues.
Conducting investigations in relation to damage, mischief or other related issues that are identified within the facility.
Responding to alarms and confirmation of validity for emergency services.

Conducting overall industry research (environmental scan) through various channels to identify opportunities and key challenges for destination management organizations and industry partners.
Leading research initiatives that will support internal stakeholder’s lines of business.
Participating in research programs in conjunction with external industry partners (e.g., Destinations Canada, Travel Alberta) and third-party vendors.

About the Position
The Event Development team is looking for an Event Development Specialist to join the team! The Event Development Specialist will support the vision, planning, and implementation of event enhancements, event servicing requirements, and localized partnership opportunities for attracted business events. The purpose of this role is multilayered – it provides event planners and organizers with the best possible experience in our city by developing strong relationships, maximizing the event potential, facilitating connections to prospective partners, and making it as easy as possible to host their event in Edmonton. The Communications and Connection team is looking for a Manager, Media Relations & Storytelling who drives Explore Edmonton’s media relations, public relations and corporate storytelling across multiple channels. Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications and Connections, the Manager, Media Relations & Storytelling will develop communications plans that engage key audiences and align with the corporation’s business goals and overall communications strategy.
The Manager, Media Relations & Storytelling will establish positive relationships with the media, stakeholders and colleagues from across the organization; respond to media enquiries, plan public relations activities, build social media strategy and oversee its execution; provide guidance on issues affecting the corporation’s reputation and emergency response; and serve as a corporate spokesperson when designated. Support Explore Edmonton’s business units in communications, public relations and storytelling
Develop social media strategies, assets and metrics; support daily administration of digital communication channels, primarily external
Develop emergency and crisis communications plans in alignment with corporate, venue and event emergency response plans
Advise on issues and prepare corporate messages to respond to media, stakeholder and public enquiries
Coach spokespersons and executives to respond in crisis situations.
Serve as spokesperson when designated.
Collaborate with Communications and Connections team members and other departments on initiatives and annual planning.
Align external communications needs with project and initiative communications planning.
Assist in the curation and development of internal corporate communications channels, including Connect – EEC's intranet.
Work closely with Communications and Connections colleagues to ensure digital communications approaches are considered and aligned with stakeholder relations planning and engagement.
Contribute to enhancing and protecting EEC’s corporate brand.
Help drive aligned messaging and brand storytelling across the organization and digital platforms
Bring forward ideas that will inform and strengthen public relations and digital strategies and tactics for the Communications and Connections teams.
Provide strong personal leadership that fosters a highly engaged and effective team within EEC and adheres to our values, purpose and mission.
The successful candidate will have:
High-energy communications professional with experience in media relations and corporate storytelling
Demonstrated exemplary writing and editing skills for media and public relations channels with the ability to adapt content to the medium and audience
Confident executive presence and presentation skills, including experience coaching leaders and handling confidential content; ability to take feedback and iterate content quickly
Ability to navigate between tactical communications delivery and corporate communications strategy
Understanding of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms
Strong acumen for summarizing complex information into dynamic content, video scripts, social posts and other communication tools
Ability to work with and be accountable to multiple stakeholders
Self-starter and ability to produce in a fast-paced, changing environment
Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities at work
Working knowledge of Canadian Press Stylebook
Exceptional project management skills while thriving in a quickly and constantly changing environment
Experience collaborating with multiple people and teams within a matrix environment and capturing key elements and details for communications products
