Experience the world in a weekend without leaving Edmonton during the Heritage Festival, a mosaic of multi-cultural sights, sounds and aromas.
Take a peek at Pakistan, taste the flavours of Fiji, feel the beat of Brazil and explore exotic cultures from Afghanistan to Wales. William Hawrelak Park on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River transforms into a mini world stage every August long weekend. The Edmonton Heritage Festival, presented by Servus Credit Union, is a family-friendly, alcohol-free mingling of nations sharing their entertainment and culture, an event that has been advocating tolerance and celebrating diversity for more than four decades. While there is no admission fee, visitors are invited to donate a non-perishable item to the Edmonton Food Bank. Sample culinary treats at 70 pavilions representing more than 90 nations. Take in lively and creative ethnic performances. Linger over photos and displays of lifestyles around the world. Chat with folks proud to discuss their unique roots and the rich multi-cultural communities they have created in Canada. Shop for artwork, crafts and folk clothing. And finish the day with a better understanding and appreciation for our country’s remarkable diversity.
