A total of 15,300 spectators gathered to celebrate all things snowboard culture and style, experiencing a snowboarding showcase like no other. With epic live music, lifestyle activations, action sport demos, a giant man-made scaffolding jump installation, and more, the 2022 Style Experience FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup generated a total economic impact of $8.7 million.

2023 STYLE EXPERIENCE

The Style Experience made its triumphant return for the second consecutive year at Commonwealth Stadium on December 9, 2023, boasting even more grandeur and style than before. Explore Edmonton played a pivotal role in supporting Canada Snowboard throughout the entire journey, from liftoff to landing. Building upon the success of the previous year's event, the Style Experience introduced a thrilling Rail Jam, featured musical performances by Grandson, Skiitour, and local talent Calling All Captains, and expanded the on-field experience which included Explore Edmonton's local Indigenous and vintage sellers marketplace.

This event was the first stop on the 2023/2024 Shred the North Series run by Canada Snowboard and showcased 78 of the world's best snowboarders from 24 different nations. The massive scaffolding jump at Commonwealth Stadium was re-envisioned for 2023, providing riders with increased speed and airtime, and ultimately propelling Taiga Hasegawa (Japan) and Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (New Zealand) to the pinnacle of the podium.

Thoughtfully crafted beaded medallions were created by local Indigenous artists @cosmicbrownkid, @red.plume.woman, @mistimaskwa, @wildrose_beadwork, @carmellack which decorated the winners and complemented the visual identity Dusty LeGrande, owner of Mobilize ᐊᐧᐢᑲᐁᐧᐃᐧᐣ, created for the Style Experience event series. Dusty designed the logo for the event and dubbed it "The Star Homie", who is composed of three elements: The Great Mystery (Creator), the Star, and the River. It represents the connection between the Nehiyaw people and their ancestors, presenting a story while showing Indigenous art through a new perspective.
