DISCOVER AMISKWACÎWÂSKAHIKAN
Tan'si, Oki, Aba Washde, Taanishi and Halu! Amiskwacîwâskahikan, also known as Edmonton, is located on Treaty 6 Territory, home to many nations including the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Sioux, and Métis People. 2 Spirit People have also called Edmonton home since its foundation in 1795 and have been an integral part of the Nehiyaw (Cree) community for generations prior to colonization.
Edmonton is lucky to have the second largest Indigenous population in Canada, full of talented performers, artisans, musicians and entrepreneurs.
Indigenous Peoples, including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis, have traditionally inhabited northern Turtle Island (known today as Canada) for generations. Through Indigenous tourism, entrepreneurs and communities share their ways of life with visitors from around the world.
In Edmonton, there are many Indigenous tourism businesses that represent a variety of Indigenous nations. From guides and knowledge keepers to artists and chefs, visitors can learn about Indigenous stories and explore a wide range of incredible experiences, such as the Indigenous Peoples Experience at Fort Edmonton Park or Talking Rock Tours.
