The successful candidate will have the following:

  • 2 years experience working in a hotel/convention setting.
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Post-secondary degree in Hospitality Management or a related program is considered an asset.

  • Supervising the backstage operations at the KDays concerts during morning load-in and sound checks

  • Coordinate, and support learning and development programs and initiatives

  • Enter, update, and maintain employee data and changes in HRIS and scheduling system, as required.
  • Ensure paperwork is complete and added to appropriate folders, while communicating necessary information to team members.
  • Ensure digital employee files and scheduling system data remain up to date and accurate.
  • Provide onboarding, guidance and troubleshooting support for the scheduling system.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Business Administration Certification or Human Resources Certificate. If certification is not available, experience would be considered
  • 1-2 years administration work (data entry, system work). Experience in HR considered an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Office Suite and SharePoint (Work, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) 
  • Strong organizational skills with focus on detail orientation
  • Strong writing, editing, grammatical, and general information research competencies
  • Strong self-management with ability to consistently meet deadlines, work independently and as part of a team

About the Position

The Global Marketing team is looking for a Marketing Intern. This is a temporary position which runs from approximately (May to August 2024). Working as a member of the Global Marketing Team, the Marketing Intern, Venues will support the implementation and execution of the marketing strategy for the Edmonton Convention Centre and Edmonton EXPO Centre.

The Marketing Intern supports the execution of venue related projects for the Edmonton Convention Centre and Edmonton EXPO Centre, and monitors the B2B marketing, event campaign, content marketing and digital marketing strategies of these two portfolios. Working in close collaboration with the Marketing Accounts Manager, Venues and the entire Explore Edmonton Global Marketing team, the Marketing Intern supports the marketing activities undertaken at Explore Edmonton’s venues with the goals of supporting revenue and sales conversions, driving value for shareholders, increasing positive brand recognition, and engagement with the Edmonton Convention Centre and Edmonton EXPO Centre brand platforms.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in fielding marketing requests from the venues teams and assigning to contractors/Global Marketing team members through Asana.
  • Supporting ongoing marketing activities for clients, tenants and event producers and promoters with the goal of adding value.
  • Supporting brand development and compliance for the Edmonton Convention Centre and Edmonton EXPO Centre.
  • Supporting the maintenance of venue digital marketing properties which may include website, e-mail marketing and social media.
  • Collaborating with Global Marketing brand team to produce branded collateral including sales collateral, menus, signage, advertising etc.

  • Enrolled in post-secondary education in business (marketing), communications or related field.

Reporting to the Marketing Account Manager, Consumer, this position will work to execute all marketing and communications functions related to this portfolio.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Adding Event Listings to ExploreEdmonton.Com
  • SEO optimization
  • Developing & updating landing pages for upcoming Consumer Marketing Campaigns
  • Developing a monthly social media content calendar promoting the Consumer portfolio in collaboration with the Social Media Engagement Specialist, across Explore Edmonton’s consumer social media channels
  • Collaborating with the Marketing Account Specialist, Business Development to identify opportunities & draft organic social media content for the Business Events, Consumer, and Sport & Culture portfolios, across Explore Edmonton’s corporate channels, in collaboration with the Strategic Communications Department
  • Contesting setup and management
  • Maintaining Asana boards and tasks for all Consumer Marketing Account Manager (MAM) campaigns
