Citie Ballet Presents: Intersect

  • Timms Centre for the Arts, 87 Avenue 112 St NW, Edmonton, Alberta
  • February 23 2018 to February 25 2018

Two new dynamic pieces come together in Citie Ballet's second performance of the season. Brett Taylor presents Gate 3, an energetic narrative of human interactions and the emotional intersections that occur in our everyday lives. This dynamic new piece, created for Citie Ballet by the former soloist of Les Ballet Jazz de Montreal, explores a cross-section of a moment in time at a transport station. In a place where strangers from all walks of life stand shoulder to shoulder every day, seemingly small interactions can have a much larger impact on one’s life than anticipated. Taylor’s joyful choreographic style offers a playful look at how we get to where we are going and will lift audiences to new heights.

See Me is a new ballet by Edmonton choreographer Kiera Keglowitsch that aims to increase understanding and foster compassion, while highlighting the strength it takes to come to terms with our own vulnerabilities. Through the language of contemporary ballet, Keglowitsch pulls from her own experience to share insights and encourage a deeper conversation that allows us to celebrate ourselves as human beings. This work is beautifully framed by digitized projections created in collaboration with the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts.
