Spring is definitely in the air for the final programme of Citie Ballet’s Mainstage series. Edmonton’s resident professional ballet company is presenting three original works: two debut pieces by Citie Ballet’s own emerging choreographers Lydia Redpath and Matthew Klippenstein and a new work from Artistic Director, Jorden Morris: Back to Bach, which is a playful exploration of the joy and rejuvenation of Spring.
Jux explores the interplay of relationships between dancers, both on and off the stage. Emerging choreographer and Citie Ballet dancer Lydia Redpath pulled her inspiration from the unique movement qualities and strengths of each of the three female dancers she has chosen for this work.
Untamed, the debut offering by Citie Ballet dancer Matthew Klippenstein, will take audiences on an explosive journey of control, revenge and ultimately redemption.
The final piece is set to the beautiful string quartets of Bach and Vivaldi. Jorden Morris’ beautiful journey of renewal, Back to Bach is a fusion of classical movement with a contemporary edge.
