You think you know Edmonton?
Check out our video series with local hosts showing you sides of Edmonton you may not have seen before.
Amateur photographer Jeff Wallace shows us around his favourite place to escape the city's hustle and bustle and snap some photos, Elk Island National Park. Wildlife lovers, take note. Elk Island is home to free roaming plains bison, moose, deer, elk and over 250 species of birds.
Elk Island National Park falls within the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve, which means optimal conditions for seeking out sparkling star clusters, nebulae and galaxies, and even catching a glimpse of the bright, pulsating chorus of lights we know as the Northern Lights. So plan to stay late to catch the light show, then retire to one of the tents they provide for easy camping at Elk Island.
We got to know Jeff through Instagram. Jeff shares his beautiful photos under the name @WherezJeff, and we've reposted many of his stunning photos on @ExploreEdmonton. Don't forget to tag your Edmonton shots with #ExploreEdmonton!
