Summer is finally here and we’ve got a very busy month in store. From Shakespeare al fresco to the Edmonton Pride Festival and everything in between, there’s no shortage of things to do in June. Check out what we’ve got going on in Edmonton this month.
See a play, watch a live dance performance, or rock out to live music at the Nextfest arts festival. Nextfest showcases performances and installations created by young and emerging artists. The next generation of Edmonton talent is fierce, and you'll be able to say you saw them before they made it big.
Edmonton Craft Beer Festival
Gather your friends and head to Northlands for some hoppy, frothy goodness and tasty treats (what more could you ask for?!). For those beer connoisseurs out there, this is your time to shine and show off your knowledge as you sip and sample from hundreds of local, national and international craft beers. We’ll see you there.
Heart of the City Music and Arts Festival
Giovanni Caboto Park is your host for the Heart of the City Music and Arts Festival. Dance to local musicians, check out a spoken word performance, or take in the creations of local artists. This two-day, family friendly festival has everything an arts and culture enthusiast could ask for, right in the heart of the city.
Hockey Night in Canada's Play On!
Cheer from the sidelines as Play On! Edmonton brings up to sixty separate street hockey games to rinks around the city. This 4 on 4 tournament brings the excitement of the good ol’ hockey game as well as music, vendors, games and more.
This isn't your average carnival. Sustainival is completely powered by green energy–amazing, we know. Rides, mini-doughnuts, prizes, free entertainment and a green marketplace await. Bring the whole family out to this unique carnival experience, and learn a bit about going green while you're at it. Not only is it easy being green, it's fun too!
Don't worry, they don't know what's going to happen either! Take a few suggestions from the audience, add a handful of talented (and hilarious) performers, and you've got yourself a brand spankin' new show every time. Improvaganza is a 10-day celebration of improv, and will feature the top-ranked improv teams from across the globe. Audience participation encouraged!
Edmonton Pride Festival
With food vendors, live musical acts and over 40 different events, The Edmonton Pride Festival is a summer staple. Celebrate unity and diversity at one of Western Canada’s largest LGBTQ festivals. Kick off the party with the Pride Parade, a glorious display of over 80 colourful floats cruising through Old Strathcona.
It’s BBQ season! And what better way to celebrate than to go to a BBQ festival at Northlands. Yes, we do have a festival for barbequing, we’re Edmonton after all. There will be food demonstrations, beer gardens and a BBQ competition bringing teams from all across Western Canada to compete. It’s even free to attend!
Freewill Shakespeare Festival
“To be, or not to be: that is the question” and the answer is yes, you should be at the Freewill Shakespeare Festival this month! Get thee to an outdoor performance in Hawrelak Park with the beautiful river valley as your backdrop. Don’t worry if it rains–the outdoor amphitheatre has a big tent to keep you dry!

The Works Art & Design Festival
Be inspired at the Works Art & Design Festival and watch as creative folks transform one square kilometre of downtown Edmonton into a masterpiece. There are over 260 impromptu exhibits and galleries to explore and many outdoor events to take part in. And best of all, the festival is completely free to the public.

TD Edmonton International Jazz Festival
We’re bringing saxy back for this year’s Edmonton International Jazz Festival! The festival will bring jazz performances, intimate club shows, cabaret-style showcases, free outdoor concerts and international touring acts. Sit back, relax and let the sweet saxophone stylings and silky voices move your soul.

Make Music Edmonton
124th street is the place to be on June 21. Local bands and musicians will be taking over the street, sidewalks, parking lots and local businesses. Make Music Edmonton is a free family event, and the perfect opportunity to check out one of Edmonton's most vibrant shopping districts.
Summer Festivals in Old Strathcona
Old Strathcona is your hub for summer festivals in Edmonton this month. The Historical Festival & Doors Open Festival, Boardwalk Sand on Whyte, Whyte Avenue Art Walk and Blues on Whyte Block Party are all popping up over a two week span this summer. Blues on Whyte Block Party and Boardwalk Sand on Whyte kick it all off on June 30, so get to Whyte Avenue and soak up some sun!
