Ice Castles at Hawrelak Park
For the first time in forever, there is a glistening acre-sized castle made of ice in Hawrelak Park! It's brought to us by the folks at Silver Skate Festival (Feb 12-21) and it's a castle you'll want to visit many times over the winter as it changes shape.

Volleyball Canada Olympic Qualifying Tournament
Who wants to be there when athletes dreams of going to the Olympics comes true? We do! Volleyball Canada will host the 2016 Men's NORCECA Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament at Saville Community Sports Centre and Team Canada gets home court advantage! The winning team will go to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Deep Freeze Festival

Deep Freeze Festival is a wicked winter festival that brings all the best snow driven activities into one weekend. And they have a famous deep freezer race that is one of the most hilarious spectacles you will take in this winter in Edmonton!

Pick whether you’d like some free swing dance lessons put on by Sugar Swing Dance Club, or lace ‘em up and glide around the City Hall plaza rink with some tunes blaring through the speakers.

Grab Canadian winter by the snowballs and hit up Ice on Whyte this January! Pick your favourite at the International Ice Carving Competition, slip your way down a massive ice slide, or sip on some hot chocolate and devour s’mores!

Pack your skates and glide along the new 400-metre Freezeway! If the pilot is successful, the winter skating lane will allow you to skate to work, the Oilers arena, or simply just to have fun. It's situated next to the Victoria Park Skating Oval, so gather your friends and give it a try.
