Sir Winston Churchill Square is located in the heart of Edmonton's Downtown core, where City Hall's eight-storey crystal pyramid marks a central point of the Downtown Arts District. Make sure that you listen for the bells that ring from the Friendship Tower, a 200-foot high tower on the south side of City Hall. It features a 40,000-pound and 23 bell carillon that can play up to 99 melodies!

This vibrant and lively outdoor venue plays host to a variety of festivals, events and activities year-round. In the summer, dip your feet in the free outdoor wading pool, challenge a friend to a game of chess, or breathe in the gardens and admire the local artwork. In the winter lace up your skates and twirl around City Hall's bustling ice rink or warm up around the public fire pits. Don't forget to stop in to TIX on the Square Box Office and Store where you can shop the locally made gifts and artwork, as well as purchase tickets to the various performances and shows that take place in the city.

Take advantage of the free WiFi access or stroll over to the Citadel Theatre, Art Gallery of Alberta, City Centre Mall or the Winspear Centre, which border the square.

Please Note: the Square will be impacted by Valley Line LRT construction and the Civic Precinct Surface & City Hall Fountain Rehabilitation but remains open to the public. During these construction updates, a number of larger, multi-day festivals, such as The Works Art and Design Festival, Edmonton International Street Performers Festival, Taste of Edmonton and Cariwest are being temporarily relocated.
